It is an area of 24 hectares contiguous to the Carlos Botelho State Park, located in the municipality of São Miguel Arcanjo-SP.
Part of the Atlantic Forest Biosphere Reserve (RBMA), whose area was recognized by UNESCO, it was the first unit of the World Biosphere Reserve Network declared in Brazil.
The RPPN area includes the Paranapiacaba Mosaic, which is one of the most important areas of the Atlantic Forest, being formed by the Carlos Botelho, Intervales, Nascentes do Paranapanema and Turístico do Alto Ribeira (PETAR) state parks and the Xitué Ecological Station (In contiguous total of more than 148,000 hectares).
